Spring Fling

I made this for the front door...to hopefully bring some warmth to our rather cold and snowy spring. Hopefully this will remind Mother Nature April Showers bring May Flowers. 

$8.00 worth of flowers from the Dollar Store and a $1.50 umbrella from a thrift store. Tie some ribbon around the middle of the umbrella..insert flowers...hang on door. So easy anyone can make this one.

Skull Chandelier

Here is my skull chandelier I made from a $2.00 thrift store light. It just happened to have six arms. The set of skull lights are the kind that get staked into the ground. Just so happens, there are three to a set. So two set later and a few zip-ties I have a great looking light that will look awesome hanging over my Halloween table I set for all the Trick or Treater's. Halloween 2012 picture to be posted later.

Fall is in the Air

Silly Sally as a redhead

With cooler temps and fall approaching, I thought I would display some fall colors in my planting. My pot lady was added this year. I will do a complete post about creating her when I have more time. She told she wanted to be a redhead, hence the rust colored mum. I am already planning her Christmas outfit.  

My planter made from an old bed frame is planted to greet the season in style. I love this time of year, but it is bittersweet, because I know soon I will be getting ready to tuck my garden away for the long cold (burr) winter months. This planter is located on the side of the driveway, so it greets my visitor and the season.

Thrift Store/Rummage Sale Shopping

 My sister and I had some good luck today. I found these two chairs for the garden. They are painted a nice bright cheery color. They came with some very pretty floral chair pads. I think these will end up in the Greenhouse when it is done. $4.00 each. Can't beat that price.

   

Wood table legs and some plastic banister spindles that will become butterflies and dragonflies. A project for the winter months.

Glass and pottery that will become garden flowers and totems.

Some glass lamps taken apart and will become totems.

A plastic display piece Hubby got...once I removed all the stickers and cleaned it all up, it will be great to put all the screws, wing nuts and washers, etc in it. I love having in it's place and a place for everything. 

Hanging Chandelier from Wire Baskets.

I got 4 wire planters at a local thrift store for 75 cent each. 2 solar lights from Target for $1.50 each and an idea from Pinterest fresh in my mind.

 

I remember I had these plastic chandelier parts that I had from a light I used in a Garden Totem I had made. These are very cheap looking and a light yellow. So I decided to spray them black to match my idea. I also gave the planters a fresh code of black paint.

 The I removed the bottom stem from the solar light and all I had to do was place it in the top or should I say the bottom of the wire basket. Perfect fit...like it was meant to be.

I then used a shepherd hook and placed it in a pot behind my patio furniture. It's very hard to get a decent picture of this. I don't know if it will stay here...I have to see it at night before I decide. For a couple of bucks...I think it adds a little charm to my patio.

I had got this base at a thrift store for a couple of bucks thinking I could put a bowling ball on it. But that didn't work out. So I wired the two other baskets together to put something on top of this base.  For $1.50 it will do, till something better comes along.

Spring Clean Up

Mike cleaned out the pond today...ick...it smelled so bad...you never get used to that smell. I cleaned up the water lilies and placed some fresh gravel on the top. The girls stopped over today..and they had to feed the fish that are downstairs, just waiting to get back to the great outdoor. Also pictured is a firepit I got at Goodwill, for only $34.99. can't wait to fire this baby up..

Bird House!

My brother made this for me today in about an hour. I have a old post from my Mom's front porch before they screened it in. I wanted it to look like it has been there for a long time . He did a great job. Now I just have to dig up the dead tree and sink the post into some cement.
Wait till you see what he going to make for me out of an old door, windows and shutters that I have been collectiong from thrift stores. He said to give him about a week and half. I can't wait to get it. Can you tell I am a little excited?

Goodwill Find

I got this at Goodwill today for only $19.99...it will look so good in the flower bed I am re-doing.
