Spring Clean Up

Mike cleaned out the pond today...ick...it smelled so bad...you never get used to that smell. I cleaned up the water lilies and placed some fresh gravel on the top. The girls stopped over today..and they had to feed the fish that are downstairs, just waiting to get back to the great outdoor. Also pictured is a firepit I got at Goodwill, for only $34.99. can't wait to fire this baby up..

Spring Cleaning Up!

My pool boy getting the pond all cleaned out. It is a messy job. He cleans the inside I trim the plants.

All clean and ready to be filled for the year. Cross your fingers that we don't have a leak. First time cutting the grass. I love the smell of fresh cut grass. Just don't look at my flower beds...oh the work still to do.

The fish are doing well in the pond. They have grown over the winter. It's nice to see them feeding and enjoying slashin' in the waterfall.

Blue Kool-Aid for our fish!!

What a wonderful weekend we had here. I moved some of my plants around and found them a new home. I decided this chair would greet my friends as they come up my driveway on the way to the back door.

Mike (my pool boy) filled the pond up and the leak is fixed. He cleaned it one more time. Hopefully our fish down the basement will see the light of day this week.

Mike added a blue dye to help prevent green algae. I think it makes it look like blue raspberry kool-aid. He said it should fade a little. I sure hope it does.

Spring Cleaning the Pond

We decided we are going to remove most of the stones we have in the bottom of our pond. It will be easier to be able to get rid of the string algae if we get it this year. That is a job for Mike...it did not smell to good..(holding my nose) I also decided this would be a good time to divide my water irises. We also need to reseal the rocks on the waterfall. We need a few days of nice weather to dry it off before we have use the spray foam.

Spring cleaning continues!

The forecast for today was for rain. I am glad the weather man was so wrong... it was so nice today. I got some more of my flower beds cleaned up. My brother even delivered my trailer and lawn furniture, that I had stored in my Mom's garage for the winter. It was nice to be able to sit down and rest between my many trips to the trailer to empty my garden tote with all the clean-up debris.

This is the pond bed...We made the cement path last year and I inspected it today. It held up perfectly, even in the harsh winter we had. I will be adding a path in the other flower bed this year and hopfully connect the two.
