Adam, Plants in Pulaski WI

Adams, Plants

Adam, plants for the earth" is a family business that specializes in attracting butterflies and hummingbirds that are zone-hardy to the Green Bay, Pulaski area.
I was not all that impressed by this greenhouse. I did see castor bean plants, which I don't usually see at greenhouses. These are so easy to start from seed so I didn't purchase any. I did get two Variegated Swedish Ivy plants for $2.00 each which was a good price for the size of the plants

Happy Birthday Mom

We decided to give Mom another flowerbed for her birthday. She always says she doesn't need anything, but who can't use a nice place to sit on a swing and enjoy a pretty view. She purchased a really nice butterfly girl statue and I thought she needed some place special to show her off. Last year John and I added a garden on the side of the house for her birthday. I told Mom if she lives a long life, her backyard will look like mine, if John and I keep adding a flower bed for her birthday each year. It also is a good way to use some of my over stock on flowers.

Mom said we did't have to take the stone out of the bed by the garage. She left to go to Home Depot and while she was there John and I removed the stone. We didn't like the way it looked with stone in one bed and cocoa shells in the bed we added.
Finished bed!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!
This is the flower bed we did on the side of her house last year. It filled in rather nicely this year.

Divide and Conquer!

I decided I was going to start fresh with the garden by the fence. I have been trying to deal with this ground cover, that was there when we moved it. I am going to dig up the plants I want to save, divide them and make sure the ground cover is not in the roots of the plants I am saving. Then I am going to kill everything else and start fresh. Mike is going to add a cement pathway before I re-plant it. I am going to have to research which plant killer I can use that I will be able to re-plant this year.

I need to open a greenhouse at my house!!

Babies Hatched!

1 Day after Mothers Day, we had the pleasure of seeing our baby ducks emerge from their shells. We counted 10 of them, we don't know if all the eggs hatched yet. I hope I am able to get the picture of them when they all leave the nest, and Mommy leads them to the water.

Curb side find.

Look what someone placed on the crib for pick up. Of course I had to have it. I had a pot that fit it perfectly. I can't wait to plant some impatients in it.

Could have frost tonight. GRRRR

I got some more of my planters planted today and now we are expecting really cold weather tonight. The planters I could carry, I placed in the garage, the rest I covered up.

Spring Cleaning the Pond

We decided we are going to remove most of the stones we have in the bottom of our pond. It will be easier to be able to get rid of the string algae if we get it this year. That is a job for Mike...it did not smell to good..(holding my nose) I also decided this would be a good time to divide my water irises. We also need to reseal the rocks on the waterfall. We need a few days of nice weather to dry it off before we have use the spray foam.

Robinson's Greenhouse

Robinson's Greenhouse in Kimberly Wi
Another idea to try, I think I may have to get my drill out and drill some holes in the sides of some of my pots.

Do I dare plant this early?

All my plants lined up in the garage waiting to be planted. Do I dare?

Lawns First Hair Cut

The smell of fresh cut grass...a sure sign the gardening season is here. The perfume fragrance of all the flowers will soon embrace the gentle breeze, but for now the smell of the freshly cut grass reminds me of ice cubes melting in a big glass of lemonade, sitting in the shade after a long day of weeding, oh the small pleasures of gardeners are so simple and pure. One word comes to mind...contentment!

First Greenhouse Trip

My annual trip to Honeymoon Acres always takes place the weekend before Mothers Day. The calendar proclaims that spring is here, but if you walk outside that is certainly not the case. As soon as I walked into the huge greenhouse my spirits lifted. The colors, the scents were a banquet for my senses. I purchase most of my plants for my pots at this greenhouse. The quality, size, and price of their product out does anything I can get in Appleton. Their assortment of coleus, is the largest around. A low maintenance plant that delivers. A lot of bang for your buck.
Coleus as far as the eye can see.
Nice bench with some nice planters.
This planter was priced at $130. I have some old green planters something like this. Mine are not as tall. I noticed they have three layers of holes drilled on the sides and front of the pot. I am going to try drilling two layers of holes and see if I can get something close to this. I think they would look good on my front steps. I will post updates on my process in this project.
Some more potted planters. This place does an awesome job on their planters.
I want this by my pond!! I always accept gifts if anyone is so inclined to buy me this. ;-)
I REALLY WANT THIS!!! SHE IS HEAVY AND BEAUTIFUL.
I was surprised she only cost $289.00
