Hailey's Secret Garden Finished

I picked Miss Hailey up after work today so we could finish up her garden. Flowers are added and she helped to mulch the area. Then she got to sign her big rock making sure everyone knows that this area is hers.

She also helped Mike with edging the grass. She really enjoys getting dirty

Second Day of Fence Building

Day two of fence building. Hailey started out sanding some of the filler Mike put on one of the 4 by 4's. She sure did like to learn about all the new tools. She was so handy.

Here she is figuring out how to change the battery in her favorite tool of all.

We are starting a new tradition in the Lady Lounge. Anyone that visits or helps in the garden can pick a rock and sign it with anything they want to say. Here is the first rock and what Hailey put on hers. Then we will add it to the big glass jar.

She added all the tools she used and her name and date.

Fencing in the side yard to keep Puppy Safe

This is the side of the yard Rufus likes to escape from. Mike and my brother helped remove a deck around a pool my friend was removing. (Thanks Cindy)  We are going to re-use the railing to keep him in the backyard 

This is Hailey,  a little helper we had today. 

First thing is to remove some tall grass so we can start the railing where our regular fence ends.

Hailey took a wood working class in summer school and she learned an important lesson. Measure twice cut once. 

Once measured and marked she got to work. She had to cut all the ends off

Yup, she even has a butt crack as she works. 

She really liked using my new drill. It was a perfect size for her. 

On to the next section. Using a sledge hammer to pound in 4 by 4 anchor. She is so happy to learn about the next new tool she got to use. 

Learning how to use the level to make sure Mike is getting it right. Tomorrow is painting day.

Outside Hanging Chandelier

I need a light by my new table and chairs. So I headed to ReStore to see what I could find.

$10.00 light fixture from ReStore

Removed all the wiring and lampshades

Drilled small holes to add some bling

Purchased these at the Dollar Store last Christmas

Painted it with Annie Sloan Provence Chalk Paint

Added canning jars and set solar lights inside the jars

Just the right touch for my new table & chairs

Plastic Garden Table & Chairs

 

Plastic garden table and chairs I got from my sister. It was originally white and she had spray painted it brown. I will give you one guess what color I am going to paint it. 

 

We took it all apart to make it easier to paint. I am using Annie Sloan Provence and Old Ochre to highlight the details.

Old Bike Becomes New Again

I purchased a new 10 speed bike. Instead of trying to sell my old one, I asked hubby to strip it down and paint it my favorite color. Added a basket and placed it in my perennial flowerbed. It will add a pop of color to my hosta bed.

Hose Rug

My hose rug I made from old hoses and a large bag of black zip ties 

I started on the ground zipping my hoses together. I started with 31 inch long hose and started to bend it around and around.

I  quickly decided to do it on a table. I can't sit on the ground like I used to when I was younger  

Cut one hose and added another one in a different color. I also found not to pull the zip tie to tight. Just enough to hold the hose securely to the previous row. I didn't measure how far apart I placed the ties, I just placed them were I thought it needed to be held to the previous row. I would say the average is about 4 inch apart.

Break time..need food! After all, it is the 4th of July

Had to move to a bigger table. You may want to start with a larger table to begin with. You can see hubby working on his table he tiled in the background.  I will share his work in a later post.

Look at all those ends

Break time (this is taking longer then I thought it would, lucky it is so nice outside and it's a relaxing task) For those asking if it's hard on your hands...not at all. But using a needle nose pliers even makes it easier.

Finished up, but to dark to clip the ends or even get a good picture. Just in time for the fireworks. 

Next day..Mike clipped all the ends. 

Love the way it turned out and it feels like walking on crocs. I may have used more zip ties then needed.  But I figured if some broke it would not make a difference. I used four different hoses. The end size is 61" by 35" I think I may even make a round one when I get some more old hoses.
